La Agencia de Seguridad Aérea Europea (EASA) va a obligar a cambiar las sondas de ángulo de ataque de unos 3.000 aviones Airbus de la familia A320 y otros 740 de los modelos A330-A340, casi la mitad de los 7.770 aparatos de la flota mundial de esos modelos. La medida se toma después de un grave incidente sufrido por un A321 de Lufthansa el 5 de noviembre de 2014, cuando volaba de Bilbao a Múnich, con 109 personas a bordo.

But the light, strong, and heat resistant material had one fatal flaw, which has kept it confined mainly to the cupboard. “When you hit it, it fails catastrophically,” says Krishan Luthra, chief scientist for manufacturing and materials technologies at GE Global Research in New York. “I thought it would be the Holy Grail if we could get it inside machines, and get more power and savings out of our engines. It could really make an impact.”
