Este mensaje se repite desde finales de la década de los años 70, concretamente cuando se publicaron las primeras guías dietéticas para norteamericanos, que fueron replicadas por la mayor parte de las administraciones sanitarias.

But a new Israel and China-based startup hopes to extend the life of fresh produce with their innovation.

Phresh has developed Food Protectors, a kitchen gadget that could increase the lifetime of fruit and veg by up to a month. The protectors use a powerful, plant-based organic powder that counteracts the bacteria that cause food to go bad.

Plasticisers are added to food packaging, cables and various other products in order to make them more flexible and easier to handle.

Food Waste Smart Meter Winnow Bags $3.3M Further Funding.

Who would have thought there’s money in measuring how much food a professional kitchen throws away? Food waste smart meter maker Winnow has bagged a further $3.3 million in funding.

Investors in what the startup is talking up as an “oversubscribed” Series A round include previous backers Mustard Seed, and Axel Johnson’s digital venture capital fund D:Ax, along with a number of private investors. The London-based company plans to use the new finance to further develop the product and expand, including globally. It recently opened a new office in Singapore to serve the Asia-Pacific market.
