SkillFlick is a U.K. startup with the self-described aim of building an ’Airbnb for local skills’. The site was founded two years ago, launching in beta in January 2013 and is just opening up fully to the public this month. It’s bootstrapped and is actively looking to raise a seed round now. TC last came across the startup pitching at our London meet-up back in July, when we described it as as an ‘Amazon marketplace but for local services’.

Startup Mighty Cast thinks teens may want a wearable computer with modular components.

A Montreal-based startup called Mighty Cast is working on an electronic bracelet to which modular charms can add new functionality. It hopes to start selling it for about $50 later this year.

The Nex Band will be a chunky-looking wristband containing basic electronic components—a microcontroller, a vibration motor, a low-energy Bluetooth radio, and a battery that will last two to four days, depending on how much you use it. The wristband will be sold with a single working mod that can do things like alert you to new text messages, incoming phone calls, or social-network updates.

Report: Mobileye To Hold Biggest-Ever Israeli IPO On NASDAQ.

Mobileye is planning an IPO at a colossal company valuation of $2.5-3 billion, according to financial news website Calcalist.

If that is the case, Mobileye, which specializes in the development of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for motor-vehicles, will offer up the largest ever IPO made by an Israeli company on NASDAQ. According to the report, the Israeli founders of Mobileye will attempt to raise $500 million at a company valuation of $2.5-3 billion.

Facebook is buying Oculus for $2B to ‘get ready for the platform of tomorrow’.

“Mobile is the platform of today, and now we’re also getting ready for the platforms of tomorrow,” said Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, in a brief explanation of why his company is buying Oculus.
