Turning up the heat on next-generation semiconductors

The scorching surface of Venus, where temperatures can climb to 480 degrees Celsius (hot enough to melt lead), is an inhospitable place for humans and machines alike. One reason scientists have not yet been able to send a rover to the planet’s surface is because silicon-based electronics can’t operate in such extreme temperatures for an extended period of time.

For high-temperature applications like Venus exploration, researchers have recently turned to gallium nitride, a unique material that can withstand temperatures of 500 degrees or more.

"La Realidad virtual puede convertirse en una herramienta esencial para la formación de maquinistas"

A través del mismo buscaba desarrollar una herramienta de realidad virtual que integrase las necesidades formativas en conducción, digitalizando entornos de infraestructura reales y vehículos específicos, y que permitiera entrenar situaciones y habilidades necesarias para complementar la formación en materia de seguridad para el personal de conducción.

China firm plans 10,000-satellite swarm to fight Elon Musk’s space power

Move over, Starlink; there’s a new player in town. A Chinese company plans to launch a constellation of 10,000 satellites to compete with Elon Musk’s massive Starlink project.

As of April 2024, Starlink had launched around 5,874 satellites, and Musk has ambitious plans for a giant constellation of up to 42,000 satellites in low Earth orbit. Musk’s ultimate goal is to provide low-cost internet to remote locations across the globe.
