China firm plans 10,000-satellite swarm to fight Elon Musk’s space power

Move over, Starlink; there’s a new player in town. A Chinese company plans to launch a constellation of 10,000 satellites to compete with Elon Musk’s massive Starlink project.

As of April 2024, Starlink had launched around 5,874 satellites, and Musk has ambitious plans for a giant constellation of up to 42,000 satellites in low Earth orbit. Musk’s ultimate goal is to provide low-cost internet to remote locations across the globe.
