La juez del Juzgado de Instrucción número 3 de Vitoria ha admitido a trámite la querella de la Fiscalía de Álava por diversos presuntos delitos e irregularidades en el fallido proyecto de coche eléctrico 'Hiriko '.

La querella del Fiscal-jefe de Vitoria, Josu Izagirre, se dirigía contra seis empresarios y la asociación Afipaida, ya que, sin experiencia ni infraestructura en la fabricación de automóviles, idearon un plan para apropiarse de fondos públicos "en su propio beneficio".

Samsung boosts its electric car credentials as it acquires battery business from Magna International.

amsung is making bigger moves into the electric vehicle (EV) realm with news that its “materials and energy” subsidiary Samsung SDI has acquired the battery pack division of Magna International, an automotive supplier based in Ontario, Canada.

The Korean electronics giant is procuring the battery business from Magna Steyr, the Austria-based unit of Magna International, with more than 250 employees, all production sites, and contracts transferring over to Samsung SDI.

EU introduces new rules to make cooking greener.

The sale of energy-wasting ovens and cooking hobs will be banned across the European Union after the latest set of rules to make household appliances more efficient takes effect on Friday, (20 February).

The European Commission said on Wednesday (18 February) that getting rid of inefficient appliances would cut consumer energy bills by around 50 euros ($57) per year, while the savings from the rules across the bloc would run into billions.

The policy, known as ecodesign, is intended to reduce fuel imports and CO2 emissions.

Liver cancer in particular is four times as prevalent as it is in the West, in part because one in 14 people in China carry hepatitis B, which puts them at risk. Uber drivers will mount cameras on their cars for crowdsourced neighborhood safety project.

Uber is making moves to boost its security credentials today with the news that it’s partnering with Safetipin, a crowdsourced community service that collates safety-related data submitted by the public.

The company says it will look to “contribute to Safetipin’s data collection efforts,” by training its own drivers to work in tandem with Safetipin’s auditors. Uber’s drivers will collect data at night-time using camera-enabled smartphones, which will be mounted to the exterior of their cars to capture photos of neighborhoods and roads.
