Durante seis años, las ciudades Vitoria-Gasteiz, Tartu (Estonia) y Sonderborg (Dinamarca) han sido las elegidas para implantar soluciones inteligentes en el marco del proyecto europeo SmartEnCity, un proyecto que tiene como objetivo diseñar una estrategia común de creación de ciudades inteligentes libres de CO₂ en el marco del Programa de I+D+i Horizonte 2020.
El pasado martes 12 de julio LKS ha participado en el seminario celebrado en la sede del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo en Washington DC.
En este seminario diversos expertos han presentado casos de estudio internacionales que describen cómo diversas ciudades han tomado el camino hacia el modelo Smart City implementando proyectos concretos integrados con el desarrollo urbano y la implementación de diversas tecnologías en diferentes contextos y situaciones de desarrollo.

Many major cities recognize the opportunity to improve urban life with data analytics, and are exploring how to use information technologies to develop smarter services and a more sustainable footprint. Amsterdam, which has been working toward becoming a “smart city” for almost 7 years, offers insights into the complexities facing city managers who see the opportunity with data, but must collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders to achieve their goals. The city’s chief technology officer, Ger Baron, makes it clear that their efforts are still early days: “I can give you the nice stories that we’re doing great stuff with data and information, but we’re very much at a starting point,” he says.

El proyecto SmartKalea consiste en la aplicación de tecnologías inteligentes para reducir el consumo eléctrico y de agua en la Parte Vieja de Donostia-San Sebastián, mediante soluciones innovadoras en la calle, en los comercios y las viviendas. La iniciativa se basa en la instalación de alumbrado inteligente, contadores de energía eléctrica y agua, y sistemas de conteo de personas.
Cities have always been places of opportunity and even more so now. Recent estimates say that 80% of global GDP is generated in cities. People are attracted to cities to find jobs, friends, culture and enjoy the excitements of urban life. The current megatrends of rapid urbanisation, climate change and resource depletion need to be acknowledged and understood by cities. Cities are starting to address the challenges of this new urban context. The C40, a network of 58 of the world’s megacities committed to addressing climate change, reports that its member cities have already taken 4,734 collective actions to address climate change and economic growth.
En el marco del programa de investigación e innovación europeo Horizon2020, el equipo DeustoTech-Internet impulsará tres proyectos basados en las TICs para avanzar hacia ciudades más inteligentes en el ámbito del envejecimiento activo, la interacción con las administraciones públicas y la eficiencia energética. Las investigaciones aprobadas por el programa europeo son City4Age, Simpatico y Green Soul.
Bilbomática, en colaboración con Deusto Research y la empresa I-ingenia, tiene en marcha el proyecto Smart Garbage, una investigación enfocada a optimizar la recogida de los residuos urbanos, utilizando tecnologías de la Internet de las Cosas y el Big Data para reducir el uso de recursos, el tiempo de recogida y las emisiones de CO2.
