The Duesseldorf-based technology group Rheinmetall has received a framework contract from the Bundeswehr for the delivery of 155mm artillery ammunition worth up to €8.5 billion gross. The contract was signed on 20 June 2024 by Annette Lehnigk-Emden, President of the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw), and representatives of Rheinmetall in Koblenz at the office’s headquarters.
South Korean researchers have successfully developed technology to mass-produce quantum dot lasers, widely used in data centers and quantum communications. This breakthrough paves the way for reducing the production cost of semiconductor lasers to one-sixth of the current cost.
The research is published in the Journal of Alloys and Compounds.

Embraer and Rheinmetall are in discussions to expand their training network with a focus on the C-390. The aim is evaluate the needs of the increasing number of C-390 European customers with respect to training and decide on the development of a dedicated training center in the region, supporting existing and future C-390 customers.
The technology group Rheinmetall has received a major order for several million electric coolant pumps from a well-known international car manufacturer. The order value is in the low three-digit million euro range. The pumps will be used in the manufacturer's hybrid-powered vehicles. Production has already started and will continue until 2030, with the accompanying service contract running beyond production until 2045.
At its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of Continental AG appointed Olaf Schick (52) as the company’s new chief financial officer (CFO) effective July 1. In addition to Group Finance and Controlling, Schick will remain responsible for Group Law and Intellectual Property, Group Compliance, Group Internal Audit, Group Quality Management and Group Risks and Controls, all of which are currently part of the Integrity and Law function. Continental CEO Nikolai Setzer will take charge of Group Information Technology (IT), which is currently part of the Finance function.
The Chinese Module Marker (CMM), the OPIS benchmark assessment for TOPCon modules from China was assessed at $0.100/W, down $0.005/W week-to-week. Mono PERC module prices were assessed at $0.090/W, down $0.005/W from the previous week. The new record lows for both prices according to OPIS data comes as market activity remains subdued on low demand.
