España, quinto país de la UE que más perderá en I+D con las nuevas patentes farmacéuticas

Se espera que la reforma legislativa farmacéutica propuesta por la Comisión Europea, la primera del sector en 20 años, tenga «importantes efectos colaterales» en la actividad de I+D a nivel nacional. Y es que España sería el quinto país de la Unión Europea que más perdería en I+D de aprobarse las propuestas del ejecutivo comunitario como consecuencia de una fuga de innovación y producción a EEUU y China.

Lagarde avisa de que no habrá rebajas de tipos en al menos “un par de trimestres”

El mercado ha interpretado el final de las alzas de tipos en la zona euro en la pausa que decidió hacer el BCE en su última reunión, de finales de octubre. La perspectiva ya asumida por inversores y hogares es que el precio del dinero se va a mantener a un Elevado durante meses y la presidenta del BCE, Christine Lagarde, ha avanzado hoy que tendrán que pasar “más de un par de trimestres” hasta que haya una bajada en los tipos de interés.

SSAB: Introducing the world’s first building with fossil-free steel

Peab and SSAB have taken the next step in their collaboration and now, together with Ruukki Construction and the property company Wihlborgs, present the world’s first building with fossil-free steel in Lund, Sweden. The building’s wall and roof structures have been designed and produced by Ruukki Construction. Parts of the building were manufactured using fossil-free steel from SSAB.

Bayer CEO Bill Anderson says 'radical realignment' is underway

In three years as the pharma chief at Roche, Bill Anderson executed a massive overhaul of the division, lopping off layers of management and recharting its course.

Now in his fifth month as CEO at struggling conglomerate Bayer, Anderson is focused on an even larger renovation, saying the company is on its way to a “radical realignment” with massive reductions in its workforce.

 

As part of the realignment, Bayer also is evaluating separating its consumer health and crop science divisions.

thyssenkrupp Steel strengthens its expertise in electric mobility and higher-strength steels with completion of the new double reversing stand in Bochum

thyssenkrupp Steel is continuing with the consistent implementation of its Steel Strategy 20-30 and has now completed another major project. The new double reversing stand (DRG) can be used above all to produce higher-performance steels for electric mobility, as well as other high-strength grades. The location on Essener Strasse in Bochum will be expanded into a center of excellence for electric mobility by 2025. In addition to the now completed unit, an annealing and isolating line (GIL) and an electrical steel inspection line (EBIL) are being built there.

ANDRITZ continues to increase results in the third quarter of 2023

nternational technology group ANDRITZ achieved strong increases in revenue, earnings, and net income in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the previous year’s reference period. The group has thus continued the positive development of the previous quarters.

Total order intake declined from the previous year’s reference quarter, which included a large pulp mill order. However, order intake increased in the business areas Hydro, Metals, and Separation. The order intake for sustainable solutions and products was very satisfactory.
