FAS Energy, Marubeni secure development deal for Saudi Arabia’s largest rooftop PV project

Renewable energy company FAS Energy, a unit of Saudi industrial group Fawaz Al Hokair Group, and Tokyo-based conglomerate, Marubeni Corporation, have secured a project development agreement for a 52 MW rooftop PV project portfolio to be deployed across several locations in Saudi Arabia.

Astronomers detect seismic ripples in ancient galactic disk

A new snapshot of an ancient, far-off galaxy could help scientists understand how it formed and the origins of our own Milky Way.

At more than 12 billion years old, BRI 1335-0417 is the oldest and furthest known spiral galaxy in our universe.

Lead author Dr Takafumi Tsukui said a state-of-the-art telescope called ALMA allowed them to look at this ancient galaxy in much greater detail.

"Specifically, we were interested in how gas was moving into and throughout the galaxy," Dr Tsukui said.

Joe Biden calls for probe into US Steel sale to Japan's Nippon

The White House says Nippon Steel's plan to buy US Steel should be probed on national security grounds,even though Japan is a "close ally".

It also expressed concern about the deal's potential impact on supply chain reliability in a Thursday statement.

The $15bn (£12bn) purchase of the 122-year-old steelmaker would create one of the world's biggest steel companies.

But the powerful United Steelworkers (USW) union also criticised the deal as "shortsighted".

Siemens Mobility supplies 75 Mireo trains for Leipzig and the surrounding region

Siemens Mobility has won an order for the delivery of 75 Mireo trains for the “Central German S-Bahn Network 2025+” (MDSB 2025+) project with an order volume of approximately €500 million. All in all, 41 three-car Mireo trains were ordered by the operators of Die Länderbahn DLB, and 18 four-car Mireo trains as well as 16 two-car battery-powered Mireo Plus B trains by DB Regio AG.
