As part of France 2030, the CALHIPSO project aims to promote the development of the metallurgical industry in France by installing two Hot Isostatic Compression (HIC) chambers: the first on our site, inaugurated on 8 February, and the second in Le Creusot, Bourgogne. In addition to our expertise in the HIC process and our skills in design, modelling and microstructural and mechanical characterisation, the project benefits from the know-how of each partner, including CNRS, FRAMATOME, CEMEF and the University of Bourgogne.
The Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Grenoble (IRIG), CEA-Leti and fellow European and Canadian institutes and researchers have demonstrated the complete vascularization of organoids on a microfluidic chip at speeds and flow rates similar to blood's, improving functional maturation and enabling their long-term survival.
New KIRAS project - led by the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology - focusses on improving the detection and combating of deepfakes in digital image and video content
A breakout session at the "think.beyond Summit" focussed on the economic benefits of basic research and thus the relationship between science and application. It turned out that the supposed opposites are not. One of the greatest challenges of the future is the acceleration of technological development.
“Just like its namesake, Fraunhofer stands for bringing pioneering research and entrepreneurship together. The efficient and sustainable transfer of scientific knowledge into real-world applications is the common thread running through our 75-year history. Our success is based on the commitment of over 30,000 employees, who work hard every day to develop innovative solutions for current and future markets, thereby giving our partners a decisive advantage in the international competition. We would like to thank them all,” explained Prof.
Better patient care, more efficient processes and effective networking of stakeholders: The increasing digitalization of the healthcare sector is making all of this possible. To support these advances, Fraunhofer experts are developing systems based on artificial intelligence (AI) that can be used effectively and in compliance with data protection regulations. Nine Fraunhofer units will be presenting their research results at the DMEA 2024 trade show, held in Berlin from April 9 to 11, 2024.
At its second Sustainability Day, held in Paris (France) on March 21, 2024, FORVIA detailed its roadmap to carbon neutrality and its technological solutions for sustainable mobility. In a transparent approach to its stakeholders, the Group presented for the first time its objectives for the entire lifecycle of its products, scope 3.

Metsä Group will construct a demo plant for lignin refining in connection with its Äänekoski bioproduct mill.
The equipment will be supplied by technology group ANDRITZ. Construction will begin in summer 2024, and the demo plant will be completed in late 2025. The plant’s daily capacity will be two tonnes of the lignin product.
Lignin is a substance in wood that binds wood fibres together. In pulp production, lignin is separated from the fibres into black liquor in the chemical cycle and used as bioenergy. Lignin could also be used in chemical and material applications.
Fresenius Kabi and Formycon announced today that they have reached a settlement agreement with Johnson & Johnson for FYB202, a proposed ustekinumab biosimilar to Stelara®* in Europe and Canada. The terms of the settlement are confidential.
