Norway orders its first emission-free tamping machine

THE CEO of Norwegian infrastructure specialist Baneservice, Ms Kjersti Kanne, signed a contract with Plasser & Theurer on March 15 for Norway’s first E³ electric tamping machine.

The machine to be supplied to Baneservice is a Unimat 09-2X-4x4/4S Dynamic E³ electric tamper, which is powered from the 15kV 16.7Hz overhead catenary for both working as well as for driving rather than using a diesel engine.
