SHOO­TING FOR THE STARS: 20 YEARS OF RE­SEARCH ON LASER IGNI­TION FOR AERO­S­PACE APPLI­CA­TIONS

Origi­nally deve­l­oped for the auto­mo­tive and the avia­tion industry, over the last ten years the system has been adapted for aero­s­pace propul­sion appli­ca­tions in coope­ra­tion with the German Aero­s­pace Center (DLR), the aero­s­pace company Ariane Group and the Euro­pean Space Agency (ESA). Currently, prepa­ra­tions are underway to further develop the fifth gene­ra­tion of the laser igni­tion system for series produc­tion toge­ther with Ariane Group.
