Ukrainian long-range strikes against Russian military targets within Russia’s rear are crucial for degrading Russian military capabilities throughout the theater, and the lifting of restrictions on Ukraine's use of Western-provided weapons would allow Ukrainian forces to strike a wide range of significant targets undergirding Russia’s war effort.
Ukraine's air force and air defense system have been almost completely destroyed, and the country's navy has ceased to exist. This was reported by the head of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff, Sergey Rudskoy, on March 25.
"On the whole, the main tasks of the first stage of the operation have been accomplished. The combat potential of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been significantly reduced, which allows us, once again, to concentrate our main efforts on achieving the main goal, the liberation of Donbass," he added.
