The World Steel Association expects global steel demand to increase 4.1% year over year in 2021 with growth in Asia driving the majority of the increased consumption. US domestic raw steel production is beginning to increase amid rising demand for steel from the automotive manufacturing and household appliances sectors. According to the American Iron and Steel Institute for the week ending July 3rd, 2021, US domestic raw steel production was 1,842,000 net tons. This is an increase of 0.4 percent from the previous week ending June 26th when the production was 1,835,000 net tons.
