Weaved Hauls Your Raspberry Pi Projects Online.

Playing with Raspberry Pi is a lot of fun, but what happens when you want to get some real work done? While it’s not difficult to make a RaspPi board do cool stuff, getting it to communicate with the wider world is a bit of a challenge. That’s why Ryo Koyama, Mike Johnson, and Doug Olekin made Weaved.

While the goal is a bit broad – “Weaved is looking to enable Internet of Things for everyone, and sees a vision where IoT capabilities are a feature onto all electronic devices,” said Koyama – the idea is fairly simple. By giving a RaspPi Internet of Things capabilities, you can expand the scope of the hardware immensely.

Teaching Hospitals Are the Best Place to Test Health Innovation.

Digital technologies such as electronic medical records, mobile devices, and analytics offer the potential to transform health care. Whether it’s a patient using her smartphone to better manage her diabetes, a provider monitoring a patient for arrhythmia remotely, or an electronic health-record system alerting a clinician of a potential drug allergy, digital technologies can create meaningful value for patients and practitioners alike. Yet there are significant barriers to the development and adoption of such technologies that academic medical centers are uniquely positioned to overcome.

Social enterprises: report presents first comparative overview.

Social enterprises are an important driver for inclusive growth and play a key role in tackling current economic and environmental challenges, according to a report published by the European Commission.

Yet, only eight countries (Bulgaria, Greece, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Sweden, and United Kingdom) have a policy framework in place to encourage and support the development of social enterprises.

For the first time, this in-depth study outlines the main features of social enterprises in 28 EU Member States and Switzerland using a common definition and approach.

It also gives an overview of social enterprise eco-systems across countries, including factors constraining their development.

Water-Repellent Coating Could Make Power Plants Greener.

Applying a novel coating to part of the machinery in power plants could significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Applying it at just one coal plant would reduce yearly emissions as much as taking 4,000 cars off the road would, says Kripa Varanasi, a professor of mechanical engineering at MIT who helped develop the new coating, which is being commercialized by a startup called DropWise.

Simple Circuit Could Double Cell Phone Data Speeds.

A relatively simple circuit invented by researchers at the University of Texas could let smartphones and other wireless devices send and receive data twice as fast as they do now.

The circuit makes it possible for a radio to send and receive signals on the same channel simultaneously – something known as “full-duplex” communications. That should translate to a doubling of the rate at which information can be moved around wirelessly.

REE-k eta hainbat parte hartzaileren partzuergo batek, tartean MU dela, berriztagarriak integratzeko sistema bat aurkeztu dute.

Ekonomia eta Lehiakortasun Ministerioko Berrikuntza eta Lehiakortasuneko zuzendari nagusi Maria Luisa Castañok eta Red Electrica Españolako (REE) garraioko zuzendari nagusi Carlos Collantesek aurkeztu dute astearte honetan ESP-LIDER I+G+B proiektua Lleidan, proiektuko parte hartzaileekin batera, tartean egonik Mondragon Unibertsitateko Energia Taldeko ikertzaileak; proiektua Torres de Segre udalerrian ezarri da, sare elektrikoa aprobetxatzeko eta energia berriztagarriak integratzeko. Egitasmoa, Gobernuaren Lleidako Ordezkariordetzak jakinarazi duenez, Ministerioak kofinantzatu du 2.074.000 eurorekin, Innpacto programaren barruan.

16 ikastolak hartuko dute parte BCCek, EROSKIk eta Ikastolen Elkarteak sukaldaritza osasungarria sustatzeko bultzaturiko Sukalda

Programa atzo, asteartean, abiatu zen Oiartzunen, eta ikasturte honetan guztira 16 ikastolak, 10 eta 14 urte bitarteko 1.280 neska-mutikok eta 320 gurasok hartuko dute parte.  Proiektuaren abiapuntua honako gogoeta hau da: elkarrekin kozinatzea eta jatea funtsezkoak dira familian eta heziketan, batez ere ikasleentzat.
