Next Week's Bloodbath At IBM Won't Fix The Real Problem.

I’ve been hearing since before Christmas about Project Chrome, the code name for what has been touted to me as the biggest reorganization in IBM history. Well, Project Chrome is finally upon us, triggered I suppose by this week’s announcement of an 11th consecutive quarter of declining revenue for IBM. Project Chrome is bad news, not good. Customers and employees alike should expect the worst.

TeachMate365, A Platform For Special Needs Educators, Launches With $3M In Funding.

Organizing special needs education is often complicated because teachers have to juggle learning materials for students with different requirements. TeachMate365, a new cloud-based teaching platform developed by education technology startup SpecialNeedsWare and Boston Children’s Hospital, wants to make it easier for educators, therapists, and parents to collaborate so kids get the help they need.

Uber cancels on-demand delivery service pilot, UberEssentials.

Uber is stepping back from the on-demand delivery business — at least, for now.

Last week, the cash-flush company quietly announced the shuttering of its product delivery pilot, UberEssentials. The service was originally tested in select areas of Washington D.C. over the summer (under the name “Corner Store”), and it later expanded to serve all of D.C. until sometime in January.

SORALUCE moteltze gaitasun handia duen zurruntasun handiko material berri bat garatzeko proiektu baten partehartzaile.

SORALUCEk HIPPOCAMP proiektuan parte hartuko du, egitura metalikoak edo polimerikoak dituzten piezetan nanokonposatuak baztertu ahal izateko fabrikazio-prozesu berri batean oinarritzen den proiektuan. Helburua material berri bat sortzea da, zurruntasun handia eta moteltze-gaitasun handia uztartuko dituena.

Material berri horrek egitura metalikoak edo polimerikoak estaltzeko balioko du, gainerako propietate mekanikoetan aldaketarik egin gabe moteltzea areagotzea lortzeko. SORALUCEren zeregin nagusia moteltze-gaitasuna gehitzen lagunduko duen fresatzeko kaina bat garatzea da.

‘Autoak eta pertsonak, elkarbizitza orekatua’ izango da Euspot lehiaketaren laugarren edizioko gaia.

Euskarazko sormena bultzatu eta publizitate arloan euskararen erabilera hedatzeko helburuarekin, apirilaren 24ra bitartean bidali ahal izango dira 20 eta 30 segundo arteko spotak, Euspot Euskarazko Spot Lehiaketara. Aretxabaletako Udala, Mondragon Unibertsitatea eta Arteman Komunikazioak dira lehiaketaren sustatzaileak.

Lift Digital raises $1M to connect fitness trainers and clients.

The consumer health tech business is moving toward a more high-touch approach to making people healthier. Instead of just providing people with step counts and caloric burn, some companies are now building platforms to provide more personalized training.

Case in point is Lift Digital, which operates a live video-based training platform that connects users with personal trainers. The platform can allow a trainer to connect with a client for a personalized workout on an iPad or TV when the client can’t make it to the gym.

Check out this silent, hybrid-electric, military motorcycle that Darpa is testing.

The military needs stealth modes of transportation, and electric motorcycles are just the thing to travel without noise or much of a heat signature.

Logos Technologies, a defense technology company based in Fairfax, Virginia, recently won its second award from Darpa (the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) to continue development of the SilentHawk, a military hybrid-electric motorcycle.

Logos Technologies is working with Alta Motors (formerly BRD Motorcycles) and using Alta’s RedShift MX as a basis for the bike. The RedShift is a pre-production electric motorcycle that weighs 251 pounds, produces 40 horsepower, and runs on a 5.2-kilowatt-hour battery.
