MIT Releases Major Report on Future of Solar Energy.

Solarenergy holds the best potential for meeting humanity’s future long-term energy needs while cutting greenhouse gas emissions – but to realize this potential will require increased emphasis on developing lower-cost technologies and more effective deployment policy, says a comprehensive new study on The Future of Solar Energy released today by The MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI).

Denver “Smart Parking” Startup Parkifi Raises $2M, Readies Rollout.

Anyone who has tried to park his or her car on a busy day has thought there must be a better way to find a spot. Parkifi, a Denver-based startup, thinks it has found a way, and a group of Colorado investors agree.

Parkifi announced Monday it has raised a $2 million round that is the company’s first. Investors include Galvanize Ventures, Access Venture Partners, and the Foundry Group Angels syndicate. The company said in a release it will use the money to support growth in select markets and build its team in Denver.

Using Telecom Tech, eCurv Looks to Lower Energy Bills, Raise Money.

The year eCurv spent pitching its energy management software to potential customers has taught its founder a few lessons.

“The opportunity is much bigger than we thought,” said Edison Almeida, founder and chief executive of the Cambridge, MA, startup, which raised $2.5 million last June and has its eyes on another round of financing by the end of this year.

‘Smart’ clothing sales to top 10M in 5 years, study says.

It’s inevitable that the wearable technology we see now, with its various biometric sensors, will start to move from our wrists to different parts of our body. The sensors will start showing up in different parts of our clothing.

One research firm believes this change will happen before the end of the decade. A new report from Tractica says we consumers will be buying more than 10 million pieces of smart clothing yearly by 2020.

HowFactory Debuts A Better Way To Create Employee Training And Instruction Manuals.

A number of businesses today document their standard operating procedures and other employee training guides in order to more quickly get new workers up to speed. But today for many industries, those documents are created in Microsoft Word and stuck in a binder. A company called HowFactory, launching today at TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2015, believes it has a better way — especially for those in the manufacturing industries where a lot of information is more effectively communicated visually.

Carlyle adquiere la tecnológica Telvent.

El grupo Carlyle, la segunda mayor sociedad de capital riesgo del mundo, tras Blackstone, ha adquirido Telvent Global Services, empresa con sede en Madrid especializada en tecnologías de la información, del grupo Scheneider. Se trata de la segunda compra que la firma estadounidense, que no ha comunicado el precio de la operación, realiza en España en lo que va de año, después de hacerse con Palacios Alimentación el pasado mes de febrero.
