Lumos Is A Bike Helmet With Integrated Indicator Lights.

We’ve seen bike helmets with integrated front and back lights before. But Boston-based hardware startup Lumos is hoping to go one better by packing a front light, wireless indicator lights and an accelerometer-powered backlight into an otherwise pretty standard-looking cycle helmet. Rechargeable battery included.

Telemedicine startup Pager raises $14M, eyes San Francisco.

Pager has just raised $14 million to bring its on-demand doctor service to San Francisco and beyond.

New Enterprise Associates, Sound Ventures, Goodwater Capital, Lux Capital and Montage Ventures all contributed to the round. In addition to the capital raised, the company welcomes former chief medical officer of Oscar Health Insurance Aran Ron to its executive ranks. With cash in hand, Pager will be looking for expansion opportunities, both into new markets and through partnerships with healthcare organizations.

Eden, The On-Demand Tech Repair And Installation Service, Picks Up $1.2 Million

Eden, the YC-backed startup that offers on-demand tech help service direct to your home, has today announced the raise of $1.3 million in seed funding. Investors include Canvas Ventures, Eniac Ventures, Comcast Ventures, Maven Ventures, Y Combinator, Dylan Smith from Box, and James Beshara from Tilt (with his first angel investment).

The premise behind Eden is relatively simple.

A Biodegradable Computer Chip That Performs Surprisingly Well.

Biodegradable, wood-based computer chips can perform just as well as chips commonly used for wireless communication, according to new research.

The inventors argue that the new chips could help address the global problem of rapidly accumulating electronic waste, some of which contains potentially toxic materials. The results also show that a transparent, wood-derived material called nanocellulose paper is an attractive alternative to plastic as a surface for flexible electronics.
