The American public does not trust technology companies with personal health data, according to a survey from Rock Health, a venture capital firm focused on digital health.
Citrix Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTXS) today announced plans to spin off its GoTo family of products into a separate, publicly traded company. The transaction, which is intended to be a tax-free spinoff to Citrix shareholders, is expected to be completed in the second half of 2016. Citrix’s announcement to pursue a separation follows a thorough review of strategic alternatives for the GoTo family of products.
Citrix believes that this strategic decision will allow Citrix and the company established by the spinoff to enhance their strategic focus and respective competitive positions, while permitting Citrix to improve operational efficiency. It is hard to fathom that back in 2009 VCs were far from convinced that Airbnb was ever going to be a big enough business to pump venture into. Fast forward to 2015 and businesses are being created that effectively sit on top of Airbnb, meaning that the then tenacious startup is now arguably an ecosystem in its own right.
London-based Hostmaker is one such business. It describes itself as an Airbnb hospitality management service, providing Airbnb hosts with housekeepers and concierge, as well as supporting them with things like pricing and marketing, including the listing of the property and providing professional photography.

Exosomes were once thought of as cellular garbage bins, bubbles filled with waste and shipped out for elimination. But a more sophisticated view of exosomes—and a better understanding of their biological role—has led companies to exploit their diagnostic and therapeutic potential.
The latest startup is Codiak BioSciences, which has just reeled in over $80 million in venture funding to pursue its view that exosomes are the key to treating a slew of different diseases.
