Le commerce extérieur allemand dans le rouge pour la première fois depuis 1991

C'est du jamais vu depuis 1991, c'est-à-dire depuis l'expansion économique et la frénésie de consommation qui avait suivi la réunification. L'Allemagne, championne mondiale de l'export depuis trois décennies, a affiché un commerce extérieur des biens dans le rouge au mois de mai pour la première fois en trente et un ans. Le déficit commercial de l'Allemagne a atteint 1 milliard d'euros, alors que le pays avait enregistré un excédent de 13,4 milliards d'euros il y a exactement un an.

The ordinary and extraordinary Annual General Meeting of Schneider Electric SE was held , chaired by Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman and CEO.

Main resolutions adopted The shareholders adopted all the resolutions submitted, and thus approved:

• The distribution of a dividend of € 2.90 per share for 2021 which will be paid on May 19, 2022;

• The reappointment of Mazars and appointment of PricewaterhouseCoopers Audit as statutory auditor;

Schneider Electric has entered into an agreement with Watlow for the sale of its Eurotherm business unit

Schneider Electric, has entered into an agreement with Watlow Electric Manufacturing Company, a global producer of complete industrial thermal systems for the sale of its Eurotherm business unit. Eurotherm is a global provider of temperature and power control and measurement solutions, with a headcount of about 650 people.

Amazon's Alexa could soon mimic voice of dead relatives

The capability, unveiled at Amazon's Re:Mars conference in Las Vegas, is in development and would allow the virtual assistant to mimic the voice of a specific person based on a less than a minute of provided recording.

Rohit Prasad, senior vice president and head scientist for Alexa, said at the event Wednesday that the desire behind the feature was to build greater trust in the interactions users have with Alexa by putting more "human attributes of empathy and affect."

Tesla lays off about 200 autopilot workers in latest cuts

Tesla Inc. laid off hundreds of workers on its Autopilot team as the electric-vehicle maker shuttered a California facility, according to people familiar with the matter, one of the larger known cuts amid a broad workforce reduction.

Affected employees were notified Tuesday, according to the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private information. Teams at the San Mateo office were tasked with evaluating customer vehicle data related to the Autopilot driver-assistance features and performing so-called data labeling.

Bombardier Reports First Quarter 2022 Results, Grows Backlog by $1.3 Billion,

  • Revenues of $1.2 billion reflect strong aftermarket performance and 21 aircraft deliveries, well on track towards full year guidance of more than 120 deliveries. 
  • Adjusted EBITDA(1) rose to $167 million, a 36% year-over-year improvement fueled by Global 7500 margin expansion, execution of cost reduction plan and higher contributions from aftermarket. First quarter reported EBIT from continuing operations was $85 million. 

CAF SECURES A CONTRACT IN GERMANY FOR THE EXTENSION OF THE NWL PROJECT (NAHVERKEHR WESTFALEN-LIPPE)

The German operator association Nahverkehr Westfalen-Lippe (NWL), which manages part of the rail transport services in the North Rhine-Westphalia region, has placed its trust in CAF once again, with an agreement to extend the contract awarded last year. In this case, the extension consists of the supply of 10 battery-powered trains, as well as fleet maintenance for a term of 33 years. This extension amounts to a value of approximately €170 million.  

thyssenkrupp Automotive Body Solutions acquires a stake in the start-up cap-on

The body shop specialist thyssenkrupp Automotive Body Solutions is acquiring a stake in cap-on GmbH, a start-up company from Bavaria specializing in digital "pay-per-use" services. Together, the two companies aim to establish new financing and digital usage concepts in the capital-intensive plant and industrial goods business in the future. thyssenkrupp Automotive Body Solutions has acquired a minority stake in cap-on for this purpose and is advising the startup company on the design of its service offering for industrial customers.
