Tesla recalls more than 1.6 million cars in China over steering software issues

Tesla is recalling more than 1.6 million vehicles in China over issues with steering software and door-locking systems, the country's regulator says.

The recall includes its models S, X, 3 and Y, and 7,538 imported vehicles.

The problems will be fixed by remote updates to software, meaning the vehicles will not need to be taken to dealerships or garages.

It comes less than a month after Tesla recalled two million cars in the US due to autopilot software issues.

Nippon Steel confident of completing US Steel acquisition

Japan's top steelmaker Nippon Steel is confident of successfully completing its planned acquisition of U.S. Steel, despite opposition from labour union and certain U.S. senators, its president said on Friday.

The world's fourth-largest steelmaker's planned $14.9 billion deal has drawn criticism from Democratic and Republican lawmakers and the powerful United Steelworkers union, the main union at the third-largest U.S. steel company.

China's third aircraft carrier, CNS Fujian, reportedly undergoing mooring tests in Shanghai, is equipped with electromagnetic catapults and arresting devices, the most advanced means of launching fixed-wing, manned airplanes from aircraft carriers. This is a great technological breakthrough for China because unlike CNS Liaoning and CNS Shandong, which use ski ramps (ski jumps) to launch airplanes, CNS Fujian will employ electromagnetic catapults for the task.

RIC Energy anuncia una planta de hidrógeno verde en Cantabria con una capacidad de electrólisis inicial de 500 MW

La empresa de desarrollo de proyectos renovables RIC Energy y la constructora Copsesa han anunciado la construcción de una planta para generar hidrógeno verde en Cantabria, denominada Besaya H2. Requerirá una inversión de 850 millones de euros, y generará unos 250 puestos de trabajo.

La planta tendrá inicialmente una capacidad de electrolisis de 500 MW, y producirá hidrógeno verde y productos derivados destinados tanto a la descarbonización de la industria cántabra como a la exportación a través del Puerto de Santander.

El BEI financia con 45 millones la interconexión submarina entre Túnez a Italia

El 30 de diciembre se firmó el acuerdo del Banco Europeo de Inversiones (BEI) a La Société Tunisienne d’Électricité et de Gaz (STEG) y la italiana Rete Elettrica Nazionale (TERNA), por el que se financiará con 45 millones de euros el proyecto de interconexión eléctrica entre Túnez e Italia, que supondrá una inversión total estimada de 921 millones de euros.
