China boasts bubbling crude discovery – oil that is, 107 million tonnes – in Henan province, adding fuel to energy-security drive

China has discovered what could amount to 107 million tonnes of crude oil in its central region – a quantity equivalent to more than half of the nation’s production in 2023 – as authorities intensify efforts to enhance energy security and rely less on oil imports.

Akio Toyoda corrects course at Toyota Group amid widening scandal

Akio Toyoda is correcting course at Toyota Group companies in Japan amid a rash of misconduct that has embarrassed the world's biggest carmaker and eroded public trust at home.

The Toyota Motor Corp. chairman summoned the leaders of the 17 group affiliates to a morning meeting Tuesday in Nagoya and outlined a new Global Vision to refocus their priorities.

Toyoda told them that the Toyota Group has lost sight of its founding principles. He urged a back-to-basics shift, returning agency to front-line workers and concentrating more on product.

GM net income rises 5.2% in Q4 despite UAW strike, larger Cruise loss

General Motors' net income rose 5.2 percent to $2.1 billion in the fourth quarter and exceeded the company's full-year forecast despite the six-week UAW strike and higher spending by the automaker's Cruise autonomous vehicle business.

Executives projected that earnings would be about the same or greater in 2024.

Toyota warns 50,000 US vehicle owners to stop driving, get immediate repairs

Toyota Motor said on Monday it is urging the owners of 50,000 older U.S. vehicles to get immediate recall repairs because an air bag inflator could explode and potentially kill motorists.

The Japanese automaker said the "Do Not Drive" advisory covers some 2003-2004 model year Corolla, 2003-2004 Corolla Matrix, and 2004-2005 RAV4s with Takata air bag inflators.
